Where does ChatGPT sit among the websites people actually visit in Arab countries? Similarweb’s September 2026 rankings give a direct answer for three markets, and StatCounter adds how the AI chatbot referral traffic splits. We read both on 21 October 2026.

How high does ChatGPT rank in each market?

In Similarweb’s September 2026 ranking (page updated 1 October), chatgpt.com is the 7th most visited website in Saudi Arabia, the 5th in Egypt and the 3rd in the United Arab Emirates. In the UAE it ranks above Facebook (4th), WhatsApp (5th), X (6th) and Instagram (7th). In Egypt it ranks above Instagram (6th), X (7th), WhatsApp (8th) and Amazon Egypt (10th). In Saudi Arabia it ranks above Instagram (8th), Facebook (9th) and Gemini (10th), and just below TikTok (6th) and WhatsApp (5th).

How is AI chatbot traffic split between ChatGPT, Gemini and others?

StatCounter’s AI chatbot share for September 2026 shows ChatGPT in front in all three markets, with Gemini second.

What stands out across the three markets?

Egypt has the largest Gemini share of the three (21.39%) and the lowest ChatGPT share (72.16%), while the UAE has the highest ChatGPT share (80.99%). Claude is small everywhere by StatCounter’s measure, yet claude.ai ranks 16th among all websites in the UAE and 36th in Saudi Arabia, so a small share of chatbot referrals can still mean a large number of visits. Local marketplaces rank lower than ChatGPT in Egypt and the UAE, but not in Saudi Arabia, where amazon.sa (4th) is ahead of it. Noon.com is 11th in Saudi Arabia, 23rd in the UAE and 41st in Egypt.

What should an Arab brand do with these numbers?

Treat the three markets as separate. A brand that targets Egyptian users should check how it appears in Gemini as well as ChatGPT, since Gemini holds more than a fifth of chatbot referrals there. A UAE brand can expect ChatGPT to carry most of the AI referral traffic. What do these rankings not show?

Similarweb ranks are estimates of website visits, so use inside apps is not counted. StatCounter’s figure is a share of AI chatbot referrals recorded on its panel of websites, so it is not a count of users or of how often people ask questions. Both are one month, and neither tells you whether people use these tools for shopping, study or work. A rank change in Similarweb is the size of a move, so a change of three places can be large near the top and small further down.
