It is not a keyword ranking and it is not a traffic figure. It measures readiness: whether the technical and editorial signals a model depends on are actually present on your site before it decides whether to put your brand in an answer.<\/p>\n<p>We built one, and we made it public. The VOCTOS AI Visibility Score runs 45 checks against a live site, shows the number without asking for an email first, and attaches the evidence behind every finding.<\/p>\n<p>This article explains what it checks, how the weighting works, how to read the result, and, just as importantly, what the number cannot tell you.<\/p>\n<p>We weight the groups the way we do because we have watched them move on live sites. Delta Medical Labs has 5,570 pages cited by AI engines as of July 2026. That splits into 3,600 in AI Overviews, 1,800 in AI Mode, 130 in ChatGPT and 40 in Gemini, on a site we have run past a million monthly organic visits since March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Esaal has 753 AI-cited pages over twelve months at an average Google position of 5.5. Neither figure came out of a scoring tool. Both came from doing the work in the order this score puts the checks in. What we cannot give you is a controlled comparison. We have never run a client without fixing crawler access first, so our ordering is a considered judgement rather than a measured result.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size:26px;margin:42px 0 16px;color:#0d1b2a\">Readiness is not the same as presence<\/h2>\n<p>This is the distinction we see skipped in most AI visibility conversations, and getting it wrong wastes budget. Presence is whether an engine names you today, and it moves week to week. Readiness is whether the conditions for being named exist at all, and it is the part you control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Presence<\/strong> is whether an engine names you today, when a buyer asks a real question.<\/p>\n<p>It moves week to week, it differs by engine, and it depends on things outside your site: who else published, what got indexed, which sources the model happened to retrieve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Readiness<\/strong> is whether the conditions for being named exist at all. If a crawler cannot reach your pages, if your business facts are ambiguous, if nothing on the site is shaped like an answer, then no amount of publishing volume will help.<\/p>\n<p>Readiness is the part you fully control, and in our engagements it is the part we fix first.<\/p>\n<p>The AI Visibility Score measures readiness. The report states this explicitly rather than blurring the two, which matters because a score built on a mix of both is a score you cannot act on.<\/p>\n<p>When the live engine layer is included, it is reported alongside the on-site number, never folded into it. A network failure at an engine should never silently inflate or deflate your grade.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size:26px;margin:42px 0 16px;color:#0d1b2a\">The four signal groups, and why they are weighted unevenly<\/h2>\n<p>Every scan runs 45 individual checks, grouped into four families. The groups do not carry equal weight, because they do not carry equal consequence. It is binary, it is upstream of everything else, and no other group can compensate for it.<\/p>\n<p>A blocked user agent in robots.txt, a page that only renders after JavaScript, a firewall rule that returns a challenge to non-browser traffic, and the other 44 checks stop mattering. That produces a technically valid number that tells you nothing about commercial reality, because AI visibility is question-dependent.<\/p>\n<p>You are not visible or invisible in general. You are visible or invisible for a specific question, asked in a specific market.<\/p>\n<p>So before the scan starts, we read your homepage, extract what you appear to sell, and show it back to you for correction.<\/p>\n<p>You then pick your main market. Who are the main players and how do they differ on price, quality and reliability?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Those three phrasings pull different answers out of the same model, which is exactly the point.<\/p>\n<p>A brand can appear in the shortlist and vanish from the comparison. Testing one prompt and calling it visibility is how teams end up confident and wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The scan reads only public pages. Nothing is changed, posted or shared.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size:26px;margin:42px 0 16px;color:#0d1b2a\">Where the score comes from: the pillar view<\/h2>\n<p>Our 45 checks report up into weighted pillars, and this is the view we want you working from. The total tells you how you are doing. The four pillar scores tell you which group is costing you the most points, which is the only part of the report that moves this week.<\/p>\n<p>A composite number tells you how you are doing. The order matters more than the gap. A model does not rank your page and hand the user a link.<\/p>\n<p>It lifts a passage instead, which means a page holding no self-contained, quotable answer will never be quoted however clean its markup is. But it will not be read at all if PerplexityBot is blocked on line fourteen of your robots.txt. Access comes first and structure comes immediately after, which is the whole reason the two groups sit thirty-five and thirty rather than level. Every finding in the report follows the same three-line structure, and carries the points it returns if you fix it. Contactability is a hard trust gate, and engines are noticeably reluctant to recommend a business they cannot verify.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:10px\"><strong>Do this.<\/strong> One instruction a developer or an editor can execute without a follow-up meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each finding is tagged with its pillar, an effort estimate, and an impact rating, and the top fixes are ordered by points recoverable rather than by opinion.<\/p>\n<p>We ordered it that way deliberately. It stops our report becoming a wish list and turns it into a queue.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size:26px;margin:42px 0 16px;color:#0d1b2a\">How to read your number<\/h2>\n<p>Three broad situations, and what each one should trigger. A low score concentrated in AI Access is an infrastructure problem, so stop everything else. A middling score spread evenly across pillars means working the queue in points order. A high score with weak live presence means the constraint has left your site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A low score with failures concentrated in AI Access.<\/strong> Stop everything else.<\/p>\n<p>You have an infrastructure problem, not a content problem, and every hour spent writing before it is fixed is an hour spent publishing into a room nobody can enter. This is usually a same-week fix by one developer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A middling score spread evenly across pillars.<\/strong> This is the most common result and the least dramatic. Nothing is broken, nothing is strong. Work the queue in points order.<\/p>\n<p>On a site whose crawler access already passes, we would expect the movement to come from Content Structure and Clarity. At 30 points it is the largest group you can still move from inside your own CMS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A high score with weak live presence.<\/strong> The most interesting case, and the one that separates readiness from presence. Your site is ready to be cited and you are still not being cited.<\/p>\n<p>At that point the constraint has moved off your domain and onto the wider web: third-party coverage, review platforms, community mentions, and the sources engines actually retrieve from. What we will defend is the method: weight the checks by consequence, attach evidence to every finding, order fixes by points recoverable, and keep readiness separate from presence. The score is not a forecast, and a 90 does not promise citations, it only removes the reasons for exclusion. It is a point-in-time reading, because engines change retrieval behaviour and competitors keep publishing.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin:18px 0;padding-left:22px\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:10px\"><strong>It is not a forecast.<\/strong> A score of 90 does not promise citations. It removes the reasons for exclusion.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:10px\"><strong>It is a point-in-time reading.<\/strong> Engines change retrieval behaviour, competitors publish and listings drift. A single scan is a photograph, not a trend. Re-scan after you ship fixes, then on a schedule.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom:10px\"><strong>It does not know your commercial context.<\/strong> The tool sees a website. It is which of the four groups is holding the other three hostage, because they do not fail independently. Read the four pillar lines first, decide which one is upstream of the others, and read the total last.<\/p>\n<p>A site scoring 41 with GPTBot blocked and a site scoring 41 with thin schema need completely different quarters of work, and a single composite number hides that difference.<\/p>\n<p>So two paths out of the report. If your access group is clean and your structure group is not, the work is yours and it sits on your own domain.
