Google Business Profile allows one name per business, the real-world name, and its own guidelines ban repeating that name in a second language or script, even when your shop sign shows both. Write the Saudi National Address into Google’s fields in a set order, and expect verification reviews to take up to 5 business days.

This guide is our reading of Google’s published Business Profile policies and Saudi official sources as of 2 October 2026. It is not legal advice; for trade name questions, check the official translation of the Law of Tradenames and the Ministry of Commerce.

What does Google require before a Saudi business gets a profile?

Google requires in-person contact with customers during stated hours, a real address or a defined service area, and permanent signage at that address. Online-only stores, lead generation companies and virtual offices are ineligible. A Saudi business that meets those three conditions qualifies, whatever its size or commercial registration type.

Google’s guidelines for representing your business spell out the address rules. A rented mailing address where you do not operate is a virtual office and is not eligible. A desk in a co-working space qualifies only with clear signage, staff present and customers received during business hours. P.O. boxes lead to suspension, according to Google’s policy overview.

In Saudi Arabia, many small firms registered their commercial registration at a serviced or shared address to satisfy paperwork, then run the business elsewhere. That registered address is not automatically a valid Google address. The test Google applies is physical: do customers walk in, or do you travel to them?

If you travel to customers, such as home nursing, AC maintenance or mobile car wash, you are a service-area business. Hide the address, list up to 20 service areas by city or postal code, and keep the total area within about 2 hours of driving from your base, per Google’s service-area help page.

How should you write an Arabic and English business name on Google?

Pick one name, the one customers use, and enter it once. Google’s name rules list “Repeated Bilingual Names / Script Transliterations” as not permitted, “even if it appears this way on physical storefront signage”. A Riyadh clinic with an Arabic and an English sign enters one version only, without city, service or slogan.

This is the rule Saudi businesses break most often, because local signage is usually bilingual. Google’s own example shows a brand written in Latin and Japanese script side by side, then marks the pair as unacceptable. The same logic applies to Arabic and English.

Saudi law now allows either language. The Law of Tradenames (Royal Decree M/83), in force with the new Commercial Register Law since 3 April 2025 according to the Saudi Press Agency, lets a trade name use Arabic words or words in another language (Article 4). Article 8 requires the trade name on the exterior of the premises. Your Google name should match that registered, displayed name.

Name entered on Google

Allowed?

Why

Qamar Dental Clinic

Yes

The real-world name as signed and registered

Qamar Dental Clinic, plus the same name in Arabic script

No

Repeated bilingual name

Qamar Dental Clinic Best Dentist Riyadh

No

Marketing tagline and location keyword

Qamar Dental Clinic Olaya Branch 24/7

No

Location and hours information in the name

QAMAR DENTAL CLINIC

No

Fully capitalised words

Qamar Dental Clinic LLC

Only with proof

Legal terms need real-world proof on signage or invoices

Qamar Dental Clinic is a fictional example. Google’s address data for Saudi Arabia has no district or region field, so the district must travel inside the street lines.

Saudi Post (SPL) defines six National Address components: a 4-digit building number, the street at the building’s main entrance, a 4-digit secondary (additional) number, the district, a 5-digit postal code and the city. The numbers are invented. Spell street and district names the same way on Google, your website and your registration documents. If Google cannot find the address, it lets you place a pin; drop it on the entrance SPL uses as the street reference.

Verification in Saudi Arabia: the methods Google offers and how to pass the video

Google picks the method, not you. Its help page says verification methods “are automatically determined by Google and can’t be changed”, and depend on business type, public information, region and hours. Options include phone or text, email, a live video call, a recorded business video and a postcard. Reviews take up to 5 business days after you finish.

When video is offered, Google recommends it. The video verification rules require one continuous, unedited recording of at least 30 seconds, captured live on a mobile phone through your profile. A storefront video must show three things: the location (street signs, building numbers, neighbours), the business name on a permanent sign that matches the profile, and proof of management, such as opening a cash register or a staff-only room.

In Saudi Arabia the building number plate helps. SPL issues a National Address plate for buildings, and filming it alongside the street sign ties your profile to the official address in one shot. Do not film patient records, ID numbers or other people’s faces; Google lists all three as forbidden.

Postcards are slower. Google’s verification page says most codes arrive within 14 days and expire after 30 days, and that editing your name, address or category while you wait voids the code.

If you want a second pair of eyes before you file a verification video or an appeal, ask VOCTOS to review your profile setup.

The rules that trip Saudi businesses up

Six patterns cover most of the Saudi mistakes that Google’s written policies address: bilingual names, keyword-stuffed names, virtual or shared addresses, duplicate profiles for one location, call-centre phone numbers and incentivised reviews. Each one breaks a written Google rule, so you can fix it before anything gets suspended.

Trigger

Typical Saudi version

Google’s rule

Repeated bilingual name

English name followed by the Arabic name

Not permitted, even if the sign shows both

Keywords in the name

Brand plus “best clinic in Jeddah”

No taglines, services or location information

Virtual or registration-only address

CR address at a serviced office, operations elsewhere

Virtual offices are not eligible

Duplicate profiles

A second profile for the same branch by a former agency

One profile per location, in one or several accounts

Central phone number

Unified 920 number on every branch

Use a local number for the location whenever possible

Incentivised reviews

Discount for a five-star review

Fake engagement, removed; repeated violations restrict the account

The review rules come from Google Maps’ prohibited and restricted content policy. Beyond payments and discounts, it bans selectively asking happy customers only, setting staff quotas for reviews and requesting specific wording. An account that shows a pattern of violations gets restricted, and every profile on that account is suspended with it. If you send review requests by SMS or WhatsApp, the consent rules in our guide to Saudi PDPL for marketing messages apply as well.

One more trap applies to restaurants and other venues. Google rejects address edits for businesses whose physical place is the customer experience, so a relocated restaurant closes its old profile and creates a new one.

How do you appeal a suspended profile in Saudi Arabia?

Use Google’s appeals tool, check that the profile follows every guideline first, and attach evidence where the business name and address match the profile exactly. Google lists business registration, a business licence, tax certificates and utility bills as useful evidence. The evidence form must be submitted within 60 minutes of opening it.

Google’s suspension help page adds two instructions people skip. Do not create a new profile for the same business while the appeal is under review. If the appeal is denied, request one additional review and add evidence you did not send the first time.

For Saudi businesses, the matching problem is usually language and format. A commercial registration extract shows the trade name and address as registered; your profile shows what you typed. If one says “Al Olaya” and the other “Olaya District”, or one carries the Arabic name and the other the English, fix the profile to mirror the documents before appealing.

Branch evidence changed in 2025. The new Commercial Register Law created a unified registry and removed sub-registries, per the SPA announcement. Branches no longer carry their own sub-registration, so each branch appeal leans on documents tied to that address: a utility bill, a licence for the premises, a National Address proof from SPL. Keep a folder per branch before you need it.

Saudi Post’s Post Business service, and who should own your profile

Saudi Post offers a paid route. SPL sells a service called Post Business that manages Business Profile locations, lists Essential and Expert plans at SAR 349 and SAR 549 per location per year before VAT, and says subscribed locations are verified instantly. It works by delegating management of your locations to SPL’s team.

The Post Business page, read on 2 October 2026, covers bulk edits, review management, posting and analytics. We have not tested the service and make no claim about its results. For chains of 10 or more locations, Google offers its own free route: bulk verification through Business Profile Manager, which requires listing every location you manage.

Whichever route you pick, ownership is the point to protect. Google’s guidance on working with third parties recommends using one provider at a time. Keep primary ownership in a Google account your company controls, add any vendor as a manager, and remove access when the contract ends. If a former vendor still holds ownership, you cannot remove duplicates or file appeals without them.

Our read

Treat the name field as a legal document, not a marketing slot. A stable Saudi profile starts with three habits: enter the registered trade name once, mirror the National Address exactly and keep ownership in-house. Ranking gains from keyword names are short-lived, while a suspension removes the listing from Maps entirely until an appeal succeeds.

We would also stop treating verification as a one-off. Google says changes to business information trigger re-verification, and that inactive owners lose access. A branch that changes its sign from English to Arabic, or moves floors, should expect to verify again. Plan the edit, film the video and keep the documents ready, instead of editing on a Thursday evening and finding the profile in review on Sunday.

Where a choice exists between Arabic and English for the single name, follow the sign customers photograph and the name on your commercial registration. If those disagree, fix the disagreement offline first. Google rewards details it can check against an official record, and in Saudi Arabia that record is now easy to check.

Your 2026 Google Business Profile checklist for Saudi Arabia

Run this list once per location before you request verification, and again before any change to name, address or category. Each item maps to a Google guideline or an SPL definition quoted above. A location that passes all ten has removed the common suspension triggers we cover in this guide.

Confirm customers visit the address during stated hours, or set the profile up as a service-area business.

Check that permanent signage shows the same name you will enter on Google.

Enter one name only: no second script, city, service or slogan.

Pull the National Address from SPL and map all six fields as in the table above.

Use the branch’s local phone number as primary; add other numbers as additional.

Pick the most specific primary category and keep it identical across branches.

Prepare a video plan: street sign, building plate, storefront name, staff-only area.

Keep primary ownership in a company-controlled Google account.

Build an evidence folder per branch: registration extract, licence, utility bill, National Address proof.

Write a review policy for staff: ask every customer, and never offer incentives or set quotas.

For multi-branch groups, location pages and per-branch measurement come next; we cover them in our guide to local SEO for multi-branch clinics, labs and restaurants. Healthcare providers should also read our healthcare SEO strategy guide.

FAQ

Can I put both my Arabic and English names on Google Business Profile?

No. Google’s name guidelines list repeated bilingual names and script transliterations as not permitted, even when your storefront sign shows both. Enter the single name customers know and that matches your registered trade name. Adding the second version risks rejected edits or a suspension, and it does not add a ranking benefit Google documents anywhere.

Why does Google not accept my National Address?

Check first whether the district or additional number sits in the wrong field. Google’s Saudi address format has street lines, city and a 5-digit postal code only. Put building number and street in line 1, additional number and district in line 2. If Google still cannot find it, place the pin on your entrance manually.

My profile was suspended after I changed the business name. What now?

Check the new name against Google’s rules first: no keywords, locations or second language. Then appeal through the Business Profile appeals tool with evidence showing the new name, such as an updated registration extract, signage photo or utility bill. Do not create a second profile while the appeal is pending; Google tells merchants not to.

Can a business with a virtual office in Riyadh get a Google profile?

Not at the virtual office address. Google states that a rented address where the business does not operate is not eligible. If your team serves customers at their homes or sites, create a service-area profile with the address hidden. If customers visit you, list the real premises where staff receive them.

How long does Google Business Profile verification take in Saudi Arabia?

Google says reviews take up to 5 business days after you complete the verification steps, and occasionally longer. Postcard codes usually arrive within 14 days and expire after 30. Google recommends video verification whenever it is offered. Bulk verification for 10 or more locations can verify profiles instantly once Google approves the account.

Getting verified is the first step. Staying verified through rebrands, moves and new branches takes more planning. If your name, address and documents already match, focus next on reviews and branch pages.
